Training Visa

The Training Visa (Subclass 407) allows individuals to participate in workplace-based training or professional development in Australia to improve their skills for an eligible occupation or in support of capacity building overseas. There are three key streams for this visa:

1. Workplace-Based Training for Registration

This stream is for individuals who require workplace-based training to obtain registration, membership, or licensing to work in their occupation, either in their home country or in Australia.

2. Structured Workplace-Based Training to Enhance Skills

Applicants in this stream must be nominated by an approved sponsor in Australia for an occupation on the eligible skilled occupation list. The structured training helps to further develop the applicant’s skills in their chosen field.

3. Capacity Building Training

This stream is for those needing training as part of their overseas studies, or those supported by an Australian or foreign government organization. It also applies to professionals or management-level employees of overseas organizations.

Advantages of the Training Visa

  • Can be applied for both onshore or offshore.
  • Stay in Australia for up to 2 years to live and work while enhancing skills.
